The Economic Development Corporation of Sarasota County will host its annual Economic Development Rocks (E.D. Rocks) event June 26 from 5-7:00pm at Michael’s on East, 1212 S. East Ave., Sarasota. The circus-themed event is designed to provide networking opportunities for local business representatives and celebrate the volunteer work of the EDC’s cluster workgroups and their contributions toward creating a more sustainable economy in Sarasota County. Circus Sarasota will provide a thrilling performance by the “Majestic Ma Xi Tuan” Chinese acrobatic circus during the event. The cost is $12 and includes light hors d’oeuvres and live music. A cash bar will be available. Reservations may be made online or via phone at 941-309-1200 ext. 103. The workshops will focus on resources available to businesses including local and state incentives and expansion and relocation services. Examples of successful projects will also be discussed. “Professional service providers play an important role in our area’s business development and recruitment efforts,” said Kathy Baylis, president & CEO of the EDC. “With their clients’ best interests in mind, they often bring projects to our attention. The EDC then provides free services to those businesses, which ultimately create jobs in Sarasota County.” The event is free. Advance registration is required.
