Local Manufacturer Announces Expansion Plans

Medical Education Technologies, Inc.

"It was important for us to stay in Sarasota and we are grateful to the County Commissioners and the Economic Development Corporation of Sarasota County who embraced us and really got busy to turn this around quickly."
--Lou Oberndorf,
Founder & CEO

(METI®), the world¹s leading supplier of human patient simulators and related education software and training, announced their plans to expand business operations in Sarasota County. The company plans to build a new 70,000 square foot facility east of Interstate 75 off Bee Ridge Road.

"METI has enjoyed being a part of the Sarasota County business community ever since we started our company in 1996," said Lou Oberndorf, founder, president and CEO of METI. "It was important for us to stay in Sarasota and we are grateful to the County Commissioners and the Economic Development Corporation of Sarasota County who embraced us and really got busy to turn this around quickly. We¹re proud to take Sarasota¹s name around the world."

METI develops simulators and other learning tools that help educate and train doctors, nurses, first responders and military medics by providing a learning platform that allows students and practitioners to practice without harming real patients. By offering a variety of simulators that meet the needs of the healthcare profession, METI is able to provide a higher level of measurable skill acquisition for the healthcare industry.

"METI is exactly the kind of business we want to keep in Sarasota County," said Kathy Baylis, president and CEO of the Economic Development Corporation of Sarasota County. "With their innovative technology, above average wages and international customer base, we cannot be more pleased that they¹ve decided to stay and grow in our community."

Currently, there are more than 3,000 METI simulators in community colleges, nursing schools, medical colleges and universities, hospitals and the military around the world. METI is distributed throughout the world with a large presence in North America, South America, Europe and Asia.

METI has been the recipient of numerous regional awards for its technological innovations including the 2008 Enterprise Florida Governor's Innovation Award and the 2007 EDC Award of Excellence.
