Investor Update Breakfast to Feature Thomas Ranch Representative and North Port Economic Development Manager
The EDC will hold an investor update breakfast at 7:45 a.m. Monday, November 3 at the Heron Creek Golf & Country Club, 3401 S Sumter Blvd., North Port.
The breakfast will feature Eric Anderson of Thomas Ranch and Allan Lane, economic development manager for the City of North Port.
The event is sponsored by Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc.

Government Procurement Workshop
Own a small business and want to do business with local governmental agencies? Come to the Procurement Workshop on October 29 at Manatee Community College Lakewood Ranch from 7:30am - 2:00 pm. Representatives from local governmental agencies and educational institutions will be on hand to provide detailed information about how to sell your products and services to them. Cost is $25.00 and includes continental breakfast and lunch. Advance registration required.

British Gas Grill Manufacturer Relocates Sales and Marketing Division to Sarasota County
Cinders Slimfold, LLC recently announced the relocation of its U.S. sales and marketing division to Sarasota. The 25 year-old British company designs and manufactures folding gas grills for the commercial rental, restaurant, and outdoor professional markets.
The company received relocation assistance from the Economic Development Corporation of Sarasota County (EDC). The EDC helped the company identify a realtor and ultimately locate an office on Main Street. [more]
Sarasota County Film Commissioner Appointed Co-Chair of Film Florida Committee
Jeanne Corcoran, director of the Sarasota County Film & Entertainment Office (SCFEO), a division of the Economic Development Corporation of Sarasota County (EDC), has been appointed co-chair of Film Florida’s statewide Legislative Committee. [more]
EDC Defines Position on Baseball Stadium
The Board of Directors of the Economic Development Corporation of Sarasota County supports the development of a new, state-of-the-art multi-use stadium and ancillary facilities as proposed by the City of Sarasota and Sarasota County. The EDC believes the stadium will help to entice a long-term relationship with a major league baseball spring training operation in Sarasota County and will provide facilities for youth sports, various sporting events and other community events and activities.
Not only will the new facility have a significant local economic impact in terms of drawing visitors to the community, but it will also enhance the quality of life of the community. Key considerations for business owners making a decision about expanding or relocating their businesses to a community include quality of life factors, such as diverse amenities and activities for citizens of all ages. A new multi-use stadium as proposed will add one more significant selling point for our community.
ROLE Summit Video Available Online
Sarasota County’s economy was the topic of a collaborative action summit held earlier this month. Nearly 200 people gathered at the Re-energizing Our Local Economy (ROLE) Summit to reach agreement on a set of actions that will help jumpstart the local economy. Florida Trend Launches Best Companies to Work for in Florida Competition
Florida Trend is launching a statewide competition to recognize those organizations that stand out for being great workplaces. Entry in the program is free and is open to all firms that do business in the state and have at least 15 full-time or part-time employees, even if the headquarters are not in Florida
Companies can register BestCompaniesFL.com. Once a company is registered, its employees will be surveyed by The Best Companies Group, an independent research firm, to determine the winners in small, medium and large business categories.
