December EDC Breakfast to Feature County Commissioner and PGT CEO
The Future of Economic Development in Sarasota County will be the topic of the next EDC Investor Breakfast, December 1, 7:45 a.m. at Laurel Oak Country Club. The event is sponsored by National City -Private Client Group. The breakfast is $20 for Investors and $30 for future Investors. [register]

Joe Barbetta, District 2 County Commissioner, will be the keynote speaker. He will be joined by Jeff Seward, County CFO. Rod Hershberger, CEO of PGT Industries, Inc. will speak about the manufacturing company.

Commissioner Barbetta was elected to the Sarasota County Commission in 2006 and currently serves as vice chair. An attorney, he is admitted to the New York and Florida Bar and also admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court. Commissioner Barbetta, an EDC board member, is the former chairman of the Sarasota County Planning Commission, serving on that board for 14-1/2 years. 

Rod Hershberger, a co-founder of PGT Industries, Inc., has served the company since 1980. Appointed in 2005 as Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Hershberger led the company's IPO in 2006. As a publicly traded NASDAQ (PGTI) company, PGT is the nation's largest manufacturer and supplier of residential impact-resistant windows and doors. Previously, he served as President, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer overseeing PGT's Florida and North Carolina operations. He has extensive experience leading several key business units, including engineering, marketing, sales, manufacturing, transportation, logistics and customer service.
