THIS ISSUE'S FOCUS: INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS EXPANSION
The EDC Sarasota County and the Manatee EDC successfully joined forces earlier this year and received funding for an International Business Expansion Grant from Enterprise Florida. The grant is designed to help companies in our two county area who have a product or service that is exportable learn how to enter the international arena or expand sales opportunities. The EDCs have contracted with Manatee Community College to help implement this grant. David Auxier, Director of Workforce Development, will be the lead person on this project. David has an extensive background in both economic development, as well as international business, so he is perfectly suited for this position. The grant will provide the following:
- Financial assistance for companies interested in attending international trade shows or trade missions

$ $ FINANCIAL SERVICES HELPFUL HINTS $ $
In managing your business today, you likely have a laser-like focus on the management of cash. That is good, but keep in mind that managing cash and cash flow involves more than monitoring sales and spending. Working capital which includes not only cash, but accounts receivable, inventory, accounts payable and other items that will impact cash in the short-term, is the broader context in which cash flow must be managed. Any working capital item which goes outside normal operating parameters can severely and adversely impact cash balances. Don’t forget the broader context in managing cash flow.
