April 6 EDC Breakfast to Feature Recent Relocations 
The Economic Development Corporation of Sarasota County will hold “Road to Relocation,” an investor update breakfast, at 7:45 a.m., Monday, April 6 at the Hyatt Regency Sarasota, 1000 Boulevard of the Arts, Sarasota, Fla.

The breakfast will feature a panel of executives from three recently relocated businesses, including:

Alan O’Neil, CEO of Totalamber
Totalamber, a UK software consultancy firm that also operates a business known as Webquarters, established a Sarasota County Office in January 2009.

Ted Helgesen, CEO of Phoenix Ink
Phoenix Ink, which provides refillable ink machines, refill displays and ink vending machines, opened a Sarasota office in 2008.

David M. Saslow, Esq. of GPS Industries, Inc.
The company, which announced their relocation from British Columbia to Sarasota in February 2009, designs, manufactures and installs Wi-Fi and GPS systems for use by golf courses and community developments worldwide.

Panelists will speak about their route to Sarasota County, assistance they received, the future of their companies and what they think Sarasota County should be doing to support similar businesses.

The Economic Development Foundation of Sarasota County is seeking a grant researcher and writer to explore grants from federal, state and local public and private sources. Film Mixer to Feature Visual Arts Effects Company & Digital Media Workforce Expert
The  Sarasota County Film & Entertainment Office will hold a mixer on April 20, 5:30 -7:30 p.m., at Hyatt Place, 950 University Parkway, Sarasota.

The event will feature Greg Baker, founder of Divine Imagery Visual Arts & Live Effects Group,  an award-winning special effects designer who has created FX, bronze works, molds, sculptures, fabrications of all kinds – from Star Trek Borgs to Fred Flintstone – for film and television. Judson French from the EMPLOY FLORIDA Digital Banner Center, a statewide resource for digital media workforce education and training, will also speak.

Sotheby’s International Realty Brand Named to Franchise Times’ Fast 55
Sotheby’s International Realty Affiliates LLC announced it was ranked second on Franchise Times’ Fast 55 list, a ranking of the fastest growing franchises, published in the March 2009 issue.

Sarasota's Signature Sotheby's is an EDC Investor at the Chairman's Advisor level.

The Fast 55 list is compiled based on FRANdata research and is published by Franchise Times.  According to the publication, in order to make the Fast 55 list a franchise company must meet two criteria: they must be a brand that has been franchising for five years or less and they must exhibit positive franchise unit growth for each year during this period.
