Training Funds Available to Sarasota County Businesses July 1 Sarasota County businesses are encouraged to apply for worker training grants in preparation for the new funding cycle beginning July 1 by contacting the Economic Development Corporation.
Depending on the type of training and grants awarded, businesses can be reimbursed for 50 or 100 percent of training costs. Qualified training may be held on standard or customized topics. Popular training topics include accounting, healthcare, supervisory skills, office administration, leadership, computer skills, forklift operation and customer service.

Sarasota Selects Deputy City Manager Marlon C. J. Brown has been hired as the new Deputy City Manager for Sarasota, replacing V. Peter Schneider who is retiring next month. His primary responsibility will be to serve as the City’s Chief Operating Officer and supervise the City’s eight departments on day to day activities. Mr. Brown has more than 15 years of municipal management experience. Currently, he is the County Advisor on Economic Stimulus for the Florida Association of Counties.
EDC Investor Anexio Moves Anexio Inc., the award winning provider of business and technology services, has announced that it will move into its new headquarters in downtown Sarasota at 40 N. Osprey Avenue on June 29. Anexio’s move to the downtown business corridor will quadruple the size of its state-of-the-art accredited Network Operations Center.
