SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
Economic Development Strategic Plan Update: The Aging Platform One of Sarasota County's strongest assets is an aging demographic with economic value. With a focus on growing businesses that provide products and services for an aging population, our area might actually grow younger. Many of the industries needed to support this platform, including health care, design and technology, attract young employees.
Just last week, SCOPE, a member of the EDC's Partners Council and a driving force behind some of the aging platform's initiatives, announced that Research Triangle Institute International (RTI) , one of the world's leading research institutes, has been hired to develop the business plan for the Institute for the Ages.
According to SCOPE, the plan is to develop a nationally known institute focused on how a community adapts and evolves to make the most of an aging demographic.
