Top Notch Speaker Line-Up for Economic Outlook Jan. 22
What does this challenging economy hold in store for businesses in Sarasota County in 2010? Business people will find some intriguing insights on the topic at the annual Economic Outlook luncheon presented by the EDC with keynote speaker Sean Snaith, Ph.D., an economist and director of the Institute for Economic Competitiveness at the University of Central Florida. Snaith was named one of the country's most accurate economic forecasters by Bloomberg News.

The event will also feature a CEO panel with Rob Campbell of Voalté, Robert Meade of Doctors Hospital and Jeffrey Jones of Jones Chemical Inc.

The event will be held on Jan. 22, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Michael’s On East, 1212 S. East Ave., Sarasota. Tickets are $65 and may be reserved online . Advance registration required.


Gulf Coast Venture Forum Meeting Jan.  13 
Gulf Coast Venture Forum invites those interested in membership to the upcoming monthly meetings of the Gulf Coast Venture Forum.
 
The Sarasota Chapter meeting will be held Wednesday, Jan. 13 from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. at The Hyatt Regency Sarasota, 1000 Blvd of the Arts, and is sponsored by Private Capital Management. The Naples meeting takes place the following day, Thursday, Jan. 14 at the Tiburon Golf Course Members Club Room from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M., 2610 Tiburon Drive in Naples and is sponsored by TIB Bank.
 
The presenting companies this month are both in the technology fields. One is a biotechnology company that develops therapeutic molecules for use in oncology, with a focus on molecularly targeted and pharmacogenomics-based research platforms. The other is in the telecommunications industry offers a compelling alternative to traditional telecommunication services for mid-size, multi-location professional services firms. Both are sure to be highly informative and interesting.

Mega Mingle- Supercharged Networking TODAY

New Certificate in Leadership & Nonprofit Management Offered Locally
The University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee and the Community Foundation of Sarasota County’s Nonprofit Resource Center have announced a new Certificate in Leadership and Nonprofit Management. The experiential, ten week program is open to potential/ current nonprofit managers and leaders. The certificate program covers: board development, marketing and public relations, leadership and coaching, organizational development and finance.  Case studies, small group activities, speakers, a project and optimum networking opportunities will be included in the curriculum.
